Are you using NewGenLib? Or are you planning(or evaluate). You should know what your NewGenLib can do for you. This mail provides a bird’s eye view of various functional modules in NewGenLib. The functional modules supported by NewGenLib are

Dear Patrons:

NewGenLib Open Source enhances communication channels to your library
users. Apart from generating form letters in document formats messages
are sent as Text messages(SMS) and Emails. Especially in circulation
functionality dispatch of the messages through these channels is
instantaneous.

Email facility
------------------
The email functionality not only works with SMTP severs but also with
Google mail server. This means if your organization/library does not
have SMTP facility you do not have to worry. Create an email in Gmail
for your library and use this facility. System as usual works with SMTP
servers. Another good news is for organizations/libraries using Google
Apps, you can use this facility with it.

Mobile text messages(SMS) facility

SMS functionality is available through SMS Internet gateways. If you
have access to SMS Internet gateway we can help you to integrate your

NewGenLib desktop is an application which can generate various module reports in Acquisitions, Technical Processing, Circulation, and Serial Management. It also has a couple of utility functions. Many a times I find librarians facing difficulties in making it work.

Before Launching NewGenLib Desktop on the Clients follow these steps

On your Server system

All the below steps must be done on the Server system

Step 1: Close NewGenLib Server

Your NewGenLib Server (Apache tomcat) must not be running. Close the server (Using ctrl-c).

Step 2: Edit ENV_VAR.txt

ENV_VAR.txt is avilable at C:/NewGenLibFiles/SystemFiles directory. Open ENV_VAR.txt with Wordpad. In the IPADDRESS you will usually find the value localhost. Replace it with the IP Address of the server machine. See the screen shot below.
