NewGenLib is the joint effort of two specialist organizations, one a charitable professional trust and another a software company as follows:
Both the above organizations are in Hyderabad, India.
The development effort has had the benefit of extensive experience of domain specialists of KIIKM and that of specialist systems analysis and programming expertise of VSPL.
The development effort has been guided by the philosophy that unless there is strong synergy and close interaction at each stage of the development process between persons knowledgeable in the domain and those in software development,
the product will not come up to the exacting standards and functionality that competing products from the west have achieved.
The development effort has also been guided by the special needs of libraries in developing countries, where adherence to international standards and consequently, attempts to network libraries has not been very strong. Automation should facilitate the use of international standards. NewGenLib is aimed at this goal.
Domain knowledge has been provided by Mr L J Haravu, Trustee, KIIKM
