NewGenLib Foundation conducts workshops through out the globe. Interested participants are requested to monitor this link to check if there are any workshops being conducted in their vicinity.

Regular training programs

Training programs on NewGenLib are also conducted regularly at the premises of Verus Solutions pin Hyderabad. These training programs

  • include training on installation, usage and maintenance of NewGenLib,
  • are very effective since only five participants are allowed in each training session. Each trainee has exclusive use of a client and individual exercises are used, and
  • are very cost-effective

Upcoming workshops


Pune: Workshop on Open Source Standards and Software in Libraries : Spotlight on NewGenLib
Dates of the workshop: September 17-19, 2008
Venue: IUCAA, Pune
Number of participants: Maximum of 20
(Preference will be given to librarians from colleges and institutes which do not have any library software and are keen to automate their library).
The workshop is primarily intended for local librarians in Pune city. Interested librarians from outside Pune, fulfilling the above mentioned criteria are welcome to apply. However, they will need to make their own arrangements for accommodation.
Registration fee: Rs. 1300/- (Workshop takeaways will include the workshop folder/pen/pad, NewGenLib installation CD with hard copy user manual and multimedia tutorial CD)

Workshops completed

Mysore: February 18th 2008 to February 20th 2008 Venue: SDM-IMD Mysore (Closed). Thirty seven participants from all over India participated in the hands-on workshop. Focussed and individual exercises on installing and using the software were provided. All participants were given copies of the user manual and multimedia tutorials. Some of the participants have begun using the software and are seeking services for data conversion and extended training.


Vijayawada (AP): (Closed) Venue: MIC College of Technology, Kanchikacherla, Krishna District 521180, Andhra Pradesh, 5-7 May 2008. Fourteen participants manly from the region participated.
New Delhi (Noida) National Capital Region (closed) A national workshop on FLOSS (Free/Libre Open Source Software) based Library Automation with emphasis on hands-on exposure to installing and using the first Indian Open Source library management sotware, NewGenLib was held at Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), NOIDA (National Capital Region)) between 17-19 May 2008. Fifty eight participants from different parts of India participated in the 3-day workshop. Mr. L.J. Haravu was felicitated at the inaugural session. Sessions on installing and configuration of NewGenLib, international standards that NewGenLib is compliant with and individual hands-on exercises for participants were given during the workshop. Goa:Hands-on workshop on Open Source NewGenLib: Meeting local needs with global standards, National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Dona Paula, Goa, 28-30 May 2008. The Workshop was targeted to participants from Goa. Twenty six participants from various colleges and from NIO and NCAOR (National Centre for Antartic Ocean Research) attended the workshop.
Delhi University and Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR). Hands-on workshop on NewGenLib, Delhi, 2-6 June 2008. The workshop was exclusively for library staff of various libraries in the Delhi University Library System (DULS) and from institutions affiliated to ICSSR including the National Centre for Social Science Documentation (NASSDOC). The workshop was designed taking into account the special needs of DULS, one of the largest academic library systems in the country. Networking of libraries and how NewGenLib allows it, among other topics, were presented at the workshop.
