How to perform a "Duplicate Check" before cataloging the item?
Before Cataloging a book or any other item it is important to check whether the item is already cataloged or not. This "Duplicate Check" will yield 3 different types of output.
- Duplicate check may show exactly the same title. This means you must have already cataloged this book in past. Now you only have to enter the accession number/barcode of the new book
- Duplicate check may show a title that belongs to an older edition. In this case you may want to make a copy of old records and make a few changes and save it as a new record
- Duplicate check might not yield any output. This means there are no matching records and you will have to create a new record
All the above cases are demonstrated in the below tutorial.
